Christmas!

This year we got to go to Utah, we all were excited! It was so nice being with my family and letting the kids play in snow! They absolutely LOVED it! :) Well we left on Wednesday before Christmas at 1230am so the kids would sleep most of the drive and we were hoping we didn't have to deal with Lily getting car sick! Which was a success! We were making good time until we hit Cedar City where we hit a nice snow storm that slowed us WAY down. I had been driving all night and our plan was to switch in Cedar City, well since it was storming we decided to not stop but keep going that way the big trucks I already past wouldn't be in front of us. Well I have NEVER driven in that kind of weather before and I am surprised how well I did. I probably was going 20 maybe 30 at the most, so was everyone else.. (with exception of a few CRAZY people) in a short period of time maybe like 15 miles we saw 11 slide offs and 4 of those were roll overs and bad ones. People are just dumb. We got to my parents place around 1130am and unloaded the car, had lunch and then went outside to play in the snow (since Carsyn was dying since we made him have lunch first). Christmas eve we did a nice dinner with my older sister and her family since they weren't able to come on Christmas day! The kids had a blast with their cousins! Then we exchanged presents and played a little more then it was time for everyone to leave and go to bed. Christmas morning was way exciting! The kids loved everything we got and did! We played in the snow! Made snow angels! Had snowball fights! Played on the play ground! But no snow mans the snow wasn't firm enough. Carsyn was bummed but we did get to see a WAY huge and cool one on Saturday when we were in Park City visiting Logan! We took the kids sledding and Carsyn was in Love! He went down by himself so many times! I couldn't believe how much he loved it cause normally he is afraid of things like that! Lily didn't mind it. She crashed after her first time and it ruined it for her. Trevor would make her go again and she didn't cry or protest she just wasn't thrilled about it. :) We then went to lunch with Logan then we headed back to my parents place so we could see my brother before he headed home. (he just came up on Saturday since he had to work) :( The kids had SO much fun and I am glad we were able to go! On the way home on Sunday was a little rough. We left at 8am and Lily didn't sleep much and kept making us nervous cause she would get whinny like she does right before she barfs and so we got to drive with her window partly down the whole way home so she could have fresh air. While the rest of us froze! :) Then the dam took us little over an hour to get through. The kids got to see a helicopter take off and land while we slowly inched through the dam! They thought that was pretty cool! Carsyn wanted to get out and walk around the dam cause he thought it looked "neat" but there was no way we were gonna stop and deal with ALL that traffic maybe next time! :) Then we saw an RV on fire on the side of the road. That was pretty scary. I hope everyone made it out safely.
The kids did great on the drive and it was so worth the short trip!! I cant wait for our next vacation!
Not gonna post pictures cause there are WAY to many that I like so if you want to see them all go to my facebook! they are on there!!

Next time you go to Utah...Don't go through Vegas!!!! We always go through Page/Kanab. If the traffic at the dam is perfect, it's only 30 minutes longer. But if not...then it is way fast going through Page.

On our way home from AZ, Blake had work in St. George, so we went through Vegas. It took us 3 hours to go 8 miles. It would have been faster to go East to Page and back West to St. George.

well we live way west so that would take us way out of the way.. we normally dont travel during the late day cause of this reason.. we like WAY early morning so then we are home by early afternoon. we just got a way late start. neither of us wanted to wake up.. LOL. when we lived in phoenix we would go thru page up to the 20. but now we get to go new ways.. i might even go thru laughlin next time.. that way i dont have to cross the dam! :)
